National Centre for the Performing Arts Beijing, Beijing
Just to the West of the Square close to the Great Hall of the People students of architecture in particular will be impressed by the National Centre of Performing Arts building which featured its first concert in 2007. Known colloquially as the Big Egg the building is surrounded by water and looks like an egg floating on water. Designed by French architect Paul Andreu and constructed from titanium and glass it can seat 6,600 people in three halls.
