Galleria dell'Accademia, Venice
Situated just down the Accademia bridge, the Accademia Gallerie was founded in the 1750s as painting, sculpture and architecture's school and is a key study visit on any Art and Design school or student trip to Venice. It's purpose was to create an official institution for arts like those in other Italian cities such as Florence, Milan and Bologna and it is now regarded as probably the city's most important and prestigious art gallery.
Most notable is probably its extremely impressive collection of Venetian works and paintings by artists including Bellini, Titian and Mantegna. Contact FHT for student group entrance prices and opening times
