The Theatre Museum was founded in 1938. In its collections are included a unique archive of manuscripts and books dating back to 18th century, theatre programmes, photographs, negatives, slides, posters, newspaper articles, photos and audio-visual material of theatrical performances of Greek or foreign plays.
One of the most important sections of the museum is that of the ancient greek theatre, with valuable material of performances of ancient greek tragedies that took place in different theatres like the theatre of Epidaurus, or the Odeon of Herod Atticus.
The student group visit to the museum can be combined with the city tour of Athens, or with a workshop of an ancient tragedy mask production.
