First opened to the public in 1963, the Museu Picasso became the first museum dedicated to the legendary Spanish Artist and houses one of the most extensive collections of his work, with over 3,500 examples.

The museum is housed in five adjoining medieval palaces in Barcelona's La Ribera and has since been declared a museum of national interest by the Government of Catalonia. A must-visit for school group or student group trips to Barcelona studying modern art and design.

Highlights of the collection include two of his first major works, The First Communion from 1896, and Science and Charity from 1897. In particular, the Museu Picasso reveals Picasso's relationship with the city of Barcelona, a relationship that was shaped in his youth and adolescence, and continued until his death.
