Explore the Archenhold Observatory on your university or college trip to Berlin.

As the oldest and largest public observatory in Germany, this breathtaking attraction is also home to the longest moveable refracting telescope on Earth.

The historic telescope nicknamed the 'sky canon' is an awe-inspiring sight for visiting students, towering at 21 meters long and weighing a colossal 130-tonnes.

In addition to housing this impressive structure, the observatory also has numerous other observation devices; from astrographs to a 500-millimetre reflecting telescope that enables you to view planets, binary stars and the moon.

In the Solar Physics exhibition room, students can also observe the prismatic colours of sunlight and active solar zones with the help of the 'Jensch coelostat', which captures light from the sun.
