The Foundation Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe is a federal foundation, which was founded on the basis of a resolution of the German Bundestag.

The foundation’s mission is to play a part in ensuring that all victims of National Socialism are remembered and honoured appropriately. It develops special exhibitions, organises lectures and seminars, as well as creating accompanying publications.

According to the Foundation Act, the memorial is also obliged to contribute to 'ensuring the memory of all the victims of National Socialism and their appreciation in an appropriate manner'.
