Salvatore Ferragamo became known as shoemaker to the stars when he emigrated to America and opened a boot shop in Hollywood.

Frustrated by the standard of workmanship available to him locally he returned to Italy in 1927 and his business was based in Florence where it has remained ever since. Lauded as a symbol of post war recovery, Salvatore Ferragamo shoes were exported worldwide and were widely accepted as the world's finest.

The Museum celebrates not only the life and works of Ferragamo but also has a mission to design, organize and promote exhibitions, seminars and other events focusing on contemporary fashion culture in the widest sense.
