At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers use the world's largest and most complex instruments to study the basic constituents of matter – the fundamental particles. The particles are made to collide together at close to the speed of light.
A group guided tour of CERN lasts about 3 hours and comprises an introduction followed by a film and visits to experimental areas and/or to an accelerator. All tours are guided by volunteer staff members of CERN.
