Tate Britain, London

Explore Tate Britain on your university or college trip to London.

The museum's mission is to increase public appreciation and understanding of British art from the 16th century to the modern day, as well international, modern and contemporary art.

To fulfil this mission, Tate houses the national collection of British art from 1500 to the present day. These works are represented by artists chosen for their contribution to its history and development, rather than their nationality alone.

The collection continues to expand its holdings of modern and contemporary art from around the world, which now includes nearly 70,000 artworks.

The museum has free entry.
