Central Park Zoo

Explore Central Park Zoo on your university or college trip to New York.

Manhattan’s Central Park Zoo is one of the oldest zoo's in the country, first opening on its current site in 1861.

Since reopening in 1988 under the management of the Wildlife Conservation Society, the zoo's mission has been to engage future generations of conservationists and create wildlife champions.

Spread across seven acres, this expansive site is home to a diverse collection of worldwide species; including snow leopard, sea lions, grizzly bear, penguins and twenty three waterfowl species. A typical zoo visit lasts approximately one and a half to two hours.
