Located in the Smithsonian Institution, The National Air and Space Museum was originally founded in 1942 as the National Air Museum and then renamed and reopened in 1976.

The museum houses the largest collection of Spacecraft and historic aircraft on the planet, including the likes of the Apollo 11 Lunar Module, Charles Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis and Orville and Wilbur Wright's 1903 Flyer.

The museum is open daily and guided tours need to be pre-booked.
