Our Tour Solvers Top 10 For Culture-Lovers in Paris

We all know Paris is world-famous for its cultural elegance and architectural icons; whether it is the ogling art galleries, mouth-watering cuisine or magnificent museums – the city is overflowing in vibrance and sophistication.

Our Tour Solvers love visiting this beautiful city, so we have created our ‘crème de la crème’ of culture in Paris, so you don’t miss out any top spots on your next trip!

1. Shop til’ you drop at Gallerie Laffayette, the Champs-Élysées stretch of luxurious stores, as well as the many chic boutiques, vintage clothing emporiums and weekend flea markets. Paris is a shopaholics dream so prepare for some major temptation! If you have Fashion students, we can even organise a YSL private tour, a visit to the Foundation of Louis Vuitton and the chance to attend a fashion exhibition – just ask us for more details.

2. Climb the Eiffel Tower. It is an obvious choice for sure, but there is very good reason for its popularity! When you reach the top, you’ll be able to enjoy sky-high views across the geometrically designed city that you’ll never forget.

3. Explore the city’s array of art galleries. Whether it’s visiting the Mona Lisa at the Louvre, high-tech Modern Art at Pompidou Centre, classic Picasso masterpieces at the Musée d'Orsay, or Monet's waterlilies at L'Orangérie – there is vast and growing spectrum of art scattered across Paris.

4. Stroll over to the Sacré-Cœur at the hillock of Montmartre. Not only is the gleaming white 18th century architecture a sight to behold, but it also boasts fascinating historical and architectural significance.  The top of the hill where the church stands was once a sacred site where druids worshipped. While the whipped-cream look of the church itself is due to the calcite-rich stone which came from the Château-Landon quarries.

5. Take a walking tour to soak up the abundance of city-sights at your own pace. It is easy for students to be awe-struck by the buzz of the city, but a walking tour is the perfect way to take a step back, slow down and soak up the sights on foot. It’s also a great way to tick off your top hotspots in one go, as well as picking up invaluable insider tips and finding little-known local gems.

6. Indulge in mouth-watering macaron from Ladurée for some French indulgence. Any chocolate fans should also sip the most lavish of hot chocolates in Angelina for a dreamy heart-warming treat. Later, tuck into a luxurious chocolate éclair at L’Éclair de Genie.

7. Hop on a Seine River Cruise to experience the city by water. It is a relaxing break from the bustle of the city, with a chance to sit down, relax and soak up some famous city views including the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower and Musée d’Orsay. Plus, the banks of the Seine are lined with some great crêperies, so make sure to grab one as you pass!

8. Take a visit to Versailles. The royal chateau is located on the outskirts of Paris and for more than 100 years, this was the seat of government for France, ending in 1789 with the French Revolution. Here you can take a tour around the magnificent palace and stroll through the vast 800-hectre gardens.

9. Wander the city’s food markets to tantalise your tastebuds. The Rungis Food Market is the principal market of Paris, located in the commune of Rungis and is the largest wholesale food market in the world. This is well worth a visit for any visitors, but particularly for Catering and Hospitality students. You can also pair it with a tour of an authentic brasserie or attend a specialist culinary programme – just ask us for more details.

10. Take a visit to the Arc de Triomphe. It stands in the centre of the Place Charles, at the western end of one of the most famous avenues in France, the Champs-Élysées. The monument honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces.
